OTT (Over-The-Top) Media services. These services are provided by a lot of companies like Viu, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and most importantly Netflix. These companies provide you movies, TV shows and their original web series and movies. Let us go depth in their working how they stream movies, how they earn revenue.
HOW THEY WORK?
Netflix, Amazon Prime Video These OTT services provide companies will show you movies on their platform. They will charge you some amount for their services.
Example:
When a movie is released there are like theatrical right which was own by theatres, media partner rights which was sell to media companies there come satellite rights that mean after the release of movie whenever they want to release BluRay which tv channels or online partners will buy it and have the rights to display their movie on their platform.
Else they can make their own movie and web series. like "stranger things" is original produced by Netflix itself.
HOW THEY EARN MONEY?
At first, they can give you their service a limited as a trail. then they will ask for your subscription. Their all of the earning depends upon the subscription cost given by the customers

Let Explain to you all with an example ( These are only rough calculation)
Example:
Netflix
Till now Netflix has about 150 million of the paid user base. They have 3 basic plan and that is 8.99 $, 12.99$ and 15.99$ Basic, Standard and premium respectively.
If we think they all have a Standard plan of 12.99$ then total revenue of a month for the present time is
150,000,000 * 12.99$ = 1,948,500,000 $
About 1.9 Billion $
If we take a series originally produced by Netflix e.g "Stranger things" it is the most popular web series in the world.
For season 1, 8 Episodes, Each episode cost $6 million
Total cost will be 8 * $6 million = $48 million
For season 2, 9 Episodes, Each episode cost $8 million
Total cost will be 9 * $8 million = $72 million
For season 3, 8 Episodes, (we don't have cost for each episode)
Total cost is about $100 million
Sum up all of this
$48 million + $72 million + $100 million = $220 million
The remaining amount will be
$1,948.5 million - $220 million = $1728.5 million
They still enough money for other TV shows, Web series and promotion of their shows.
